And now I feel like I need to complete some sort of Dollar-Tree-Project-A-Day thing (not going to happen) because I ROCKED my first project and I'm only a little obsessed.
Here's what I made:
It's a simple, not overly chincy way to take your Valentine's Day decor to a new level - and this one only cost me $1.00.
Here's what you need:
(1) Branches gathered from your yard or your neighbor's yard (as long as they are nice neighbors - don't go cutting down their trees and I say I said it was okay)
(2) Some sort of adhesive (I used Allene's Tacky Glue, but I assume hot glue or E6000 or something like that would also work)
(3) One pack of glitter hearts table scatter from the Dollar Tree
(4) Some sort of container or vase for your masterpiece (Vintage pieces work great! I wish I would have had a nice ironstone pitcher, but my rusty old watering can is pretty perfect, too.)
So the first step is to arrange your branches in your container.
Then really, all that's left is attaching the hearts to the branches. I matched mine up two by two to attach them so that from either side of the branch you would see the heart.
Here's what I mean: Squeeze a bit of glue out in a v-shape onto one of the hearts.
The heart with glue on it goes behind the branch and then you use the other unglued heart to sandwich the branch between the two hearts.
The other heart will get laid directly on top of the branch, making a branch sandwich.
You'll repeat this process over and over to your heart's desire until your tree is done.
Phew! That was a quick, easy, and most likely the cheapest DIY project I've ever completed. I love it so much, I hope the Dollar Tree has similar Shamrocks in March!
